Ready to Shoot: Pristine Barreled Actions and the 6mm Creedmoor

Here at Pristine, we build rifle actions made in Canada, and we've been steadily growing what we can do. Lately that's included more of the gunsmithing side of things. Between the work we're doing in-house and some great industry partners who help on the smithing side, we can now fit, chamber, and headspace barrels to our actions. That's opened the door to a couple of things we couldn't offer before: custom barreled actions, and the new Rifle Builder on our website, where you can lay out the rifle you have in mind and we'll take it from there.

What You Get With a Pristine Barreled Action

A barreled action takes care of the part of a rifle build that normally means a trip to the gunsmith. Each one starts with our own bolt action receiver, with the barrel fitted, chambered, and headspaced to it, and every one is tested before it leaves the shop. The rifle action and barrel, the parts that matter most for accuracy, are set up to work together from the start, so you're not left hoping a mix of components lines up.

It's a combination we stand behind. Once it's in your stock or chassis, it's ready to perform, whether you're heading to the range, a match, or the field.

Built to Fit What You Already Have

What makes a barreled action so easy to work with is the footprint. Every custom bolt action we make is built to the Remington 700 pattern, so a Pristine barreled action works with the huge range of stocks, chassis, triggers, and bottom metal already made for the 700. If you've already got a stock or chassis you like, there's a good chance it's ready for this, and getting set up is simple:

  1. Install your trigger of choice.
  2. Drop it into your stock or chassis and torque it down.
  3. Mount your optic and go shoot.

That same adaptability carries on long after the first trip to the range. You can swap stocks, chassis, or triggers anytime as your shooting changes. And because our actions use interchangeable bolt heads, a future rebarrel to a different cartridge family means swapping a bolt head rather than starting over with a whole new action.

Now in Stock: 6mm Creedmoor Short Action Heavy

To make getting started even easier, our first in-stock barreled action is ready to ship. It's a 6mm Creedmoor built on our Short Action Heavy, a two-lug short action receiver with an integral recoil lug, designed to give you a rigid, stable platform. It runs on our Standard (.480) bolt face, with the same interchangeable bolt heads as the rest of our lineup.

We couldn't think of a better cartridge to start with. 6 Creed is essentially the 6.5 Creedmoor necked down to a 6mm bullet, and that change makes a real difference behind the rifle. Recoil is noticeably lighter, which keeps you in the scope and makes it easy to spot your own hits, even at long range.

It also punches well above its weight downrange. The long, sleek 105 to 115 grain bullets it's known for hold their speed and buck the wind better than you'd expect from such a mild round, giving it a flat trajectory and serious long-range potential. That's a big part of why it's become such a favourite in precision shooting, and with a good hunting bullet, it's a capable choice for deer, antelope, and predators at sensible ranges too.

What's Next

The 6mm Creedmoor is the first of several in-stock configurations we have planned, and we'd love your input on what comes next. Whether it's a certain cartridge, our Lightweight or Heavy action, or a specific barrel length or contour, let us know what you'd like to see and we'll use that to decide what we build next.

If you're looking for custom barreled actions in Canada and have something more specific in mind, the Rifle Builder on our website is the place to start. Lay out the rifle you're picturing, whether it's built on one of our barreled actions or starts with a custom rifle action made in Canada, and we'll work with you to make it happen.
